(The Ruins)
Work has brought me to Bacolod last week.
The highlights of my stay in Bacolod were three things: Meeting some awesome local folks and being mesmerized by their malambing accent, visiting the historical “The Ruins” which is also known as the Taj Mahal of Bacolod and lastly, catching up again with my professor Doc.J, whom I truly admire back in Grad School.
There was a quirky, hilarious tourist guide in The ruins that we met. I was totally laughing my ass off as he was really good in narrating the history of the mansion. One of the interesting facts I’ve learned from him was that the house was built of egg white (hard to believe, i know).
Don’t leave Bacolod without checking out DOC.J’s STOPOVER RESTAURANT!The resto’s ambiance is superbly relaxing as it’s surrounded with lush, green fruit trees and the food’s very affordable! To go there, just tell the driver to drop you off at Brgy. Pandanon. It’s just a 30 minute bus ride from the main town and 1 km. from Pandanon River Resort.
Also, you have to taste their chicken, piaya and other local delicacies. Well known stores to buy pasalubong is either at BongBong’s and Merci. The best time of the year to go there is on October as that’s the time of the year the city celebrates their colorful MassKara Festival.
